The glossy mirror of forever

The ship sails on.
The vast, dark sea mirrors the heavens in every direction; no souls to be seen.
The ship glides along its path; silent, still, sleeping.

Not a soul stirs aboard her decks; nary a soul would dare.

She carries the depth of darkness as her sole passenger; death, riding the ceaseless tide.

The ship sails on.

An infinity of distance surrounds her; a never-ending expanse.
This is the sea of eternity; the sea of the damned.

They're all in it, just below the surface. They stare up through the shimmering surface Hopi g to see the heavens above but, instead, see an undulating glass wave being sliced quietly open by the passing reaper on his patrol.

The ship sails on.

The river Styx ends here; the ship is the ferryman' vessel. It glides about the darkened expanse to deliver the worthy and sink the un.

The ship sails on; cutting the surface. Of the infinite hereafter to make room for the new souls.

The still, cold water is ready to receive however many the ferryman can bring; always hungry for more.

The ship sails on; delivering the dead forever.

Encouragement

You.
Yes, you. The person reading this right now.
You are probably feeling, or have felt before, that you are small and insignificant and nothing compared to the world and the universe.
Before you surrender to this thought remember
You're right: you are. The universe is HUGE
BUT, and I cannot emphasize the BUT enough,
The odds against you existing are also tremendously huge. Those odds are so much stacked against you existing that, mathematically speaking, you should not be here. I should not be here; none of us should be. Here shouldn't even be here.
So, when you feel insignificant remember this:
You beat the odds just by existing.
Well done.
Exist some more just to spit in the face of all that says you shouldn't.

Description of a Sunrise

The sky is a marble: displaying a motley mix of grays with a hint of silver and white. Enhancing the apparent grayscale world are the rivulets of steel blue that snake through the light cloud cover; in the east there are patches of blue peaking through from where the sun has touched the morning sky.
The moon, ever watchful, shines as a beacon from above; clearly lighting the upper strata of the overcast dawn with its ever-watchful eyes.

The tendrils of golden light creep across the underside of the clouds to change the forest green of the nighttime maple leaves into the bright green of their daytime shading.

The bats swoop to catch their final morsels of the morn before retiring through the inky blackness of the missing window in the barn they call home.

Daylight is upon us; the morning has risen.

Intent

The spider cares not what intent the wood stacker bears for the result is the same: a crushed web and a broken home.

A poem of mourning

The vessel has passed
The sea of humanity
Knows only the wake

Note: I wrote this the day I knew my dog's time had come and lost it among the drafts of works in progress. When I can remember the specific date of his departure from this world I will alter the publication date to match.

"Give me tis one now"

No we do not sell
Crappy patch antennas here
Please look elsewhere

"What is wrong with this?"
"There is nothing wrong with it?"
"Why is it on sale?"

"I am just looking"
Get the f%$k away from me.
I will steal stuff now.

"Do you match prices?"
"No we do not" said the clerk.
"Do it anyway."

Rugrats clocks suck a@s
We ordered too many
Now forever ours.

Toilet paper gone?
How are we supposed to work
Far too many hours?

Employees work hard.
Company steals from us.
Why should I bother?

Too much time at work.
Not enough money to live.
My debt grows larger.

School is expensive
They claim to help pay for it.
Lies, too many lies.

I hate my job much.
I should have left long ago.
I'm not coming back.

This job really sucks
I should leave while I still can
Can't find better now.

My empty paycheck
Disappears every time
Monthly cash outflow

So why am I here?

Endlessly spinning
This little planet orbits

Do you have questions?
I have some of the answers
for stuff purchased HERE.

I bought this elsewhere
It needs a power supply
No, too expensive.

You bought it elsewhere
How am I supposed to know
